Continuous vibration monitoring — rotating machinery
The bearing gave
nineteen days’ notice.
Every rotating machine announces failure in its vibration signature — most plants just aren’t listening. RONDA VM-4 bolts onto the bearing housing, reads the signature around the clock, and calls your maintenance planner the day the trend leaves zone B. Notice in weeks, not minutes.
Sixty seconds from bearing to planner.
No gateway project, no historian integration, no six-month rollout. The node does the analysis at the machine; only verdicts travel.
Acquire
A three-axis piezo accelerometer samples the housing at 25.6 kHz. One M6 stud, torqued once. With the wireless option there is no cable to pull — the radio is in the node.

Resolve
The node runs an FFT and envelope analysis on-board — every sixty seconds on line power, hourly on battery, with a continuous band-RMS watchdog in between. It knows the difference between a bad bearing and a loose foot.

Notify
When the trend leaves zone B, your planner gets the fault type and the trend curve — routed to the CMMS, not to a panel light nobody watches. A remaining-life estimate follows if the trend climbs toward zone D.

Severity is not an opinion.
RONDA evaluates every machine against ISO 20816 vibration severity zones — the same chart your insurer and your OEM already accept. When the alert comes, the argument is over before it starts.
Newly commissioned condition. Logged, nothing more.
Unrestricted long-term operation. Trended weekly.
Restricted operation. Planner alerted with fault type and trend.
Damage risk. Alarm escalated; remaining-life estimate attached.
| Zone | Velocity | ISO evaluation | RONDA action |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | ≤ 1.4 mm/s | Newly commissioned | Log |
| B | 1.4 – 2.8 mm/s | Unrestricted long-term | Log + weekly trend |
| C | 2.8 – 4.5 mm/s | Restricted operation | Alert planner, fault ID |
| D | > 4.5 mm/s | Damage risk | Alarm + remaining-life estimate |
Boundaries ship per machine class and mounting; configurable per asset.

Put it on your worst pump.
Thirty days, one machine, no software install on your side. If RONDA doesn’t find anything worth fixing, unbolt it and send it back — that has happened, and it’s the cheapest good news a plant can get.
